The unintended expatriate blogger behind Warm Clay Garden

Hey, I'm Sophie

I work as a project manager, a parent, and an expat based in Paris, France.

Some years back I moved here with my family, and what began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.

How It Started

Moving to France wasn't in our long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something bigger.

The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and rising expectations. Everyday chores seemed more complicated than they needed to be.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Over time, habits took hold. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.

Why I Built Warm Clay Garden

Most online information fell into either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.

This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in France.

What This Site Represents (And What It Does Not)

This site IS:

  • Hands-on insights from living in France
  • Centered on family life and everyday realities
  • Updated whenever something truly changes

This site ISN'T:

  • A resource from a tourism authority
  • A platform for sponsored reviews
  • Just another generic travel blog

Looking Ahead

Our stay in France goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue sharing what we find.

If you have questions about family life in Paris or anywhere in France, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Best regards,

Sophie
